Two trends are becoming a constant in the world of nail polish… gel polish, and the color jet black. Black, shiny nails have been all over television and magazines in every season of the past couple of years. There are some nail polishes you can buy and apply yourself that will give you that gel look for a faction of the price. I have found two of them that are perfect for that ideal Hollywood look.
The first, Wet and Wild’s Ebony Hates Chris, is very inexpensive at $2.99. This polish is from their Fast Dry line and it lives up to its name… but they should also add shiny to that. The polish goes on tacky and thick. You could get away with using just one coat. Put a top coat over Ebony and it gives off a gel manicure look straight out of the magazines.
The second is a new discovery for me. It’s an exquisite black by Sally Hansen called Black Heart from the Hard as Nails line. My Black Heart was only $1.97, and it’s worth every cent. This polish isn’t as thick as the Wet and Wild’s; however, it goes on so opaque that it appears thicker than it really is. It dries faster than the Wet and Wild, but could get a little messy since it’s so watery.
I highly recommend both polishes to anyone who would like an inexpensive, luxurious looking set of black nails.
