I used the brushes for months in the ways they were designed for and ways they weren’t. I wanted to make them my own as I did the inexpensive brushes I had used for years. When I first discovered makeup I was naïve enough to believe that brushes had to be the inexpensive drug store brands or the very expensive department store brands. These brushes were great quality from a flash sale site who sold them on behalf of the manufacturer. I was pleased to have learned that there were different companies whose sole purpose it was to created makeup and makeup accessories outside of those brick and mortar stores.
As they were travel sized, and packaged so well for transport, I took them with me on my adventure a few miles to Los Angeles for the Halloween celebration in West Hollywood. The night didn’t turn out the way I had planned. I had to involve the police, signifying the end of my willingness to go to West Hollywood for their street festival. Three days later, when I finally recoiled from the nights events, I noticed that my blush brush from the 8 piece set was gone. For months I would look at the set, not using them because of the horrible memory I had associated with the then 7 piece set.
In February of 2014, 3 months after I had lost the brush and 4 and a half months after I had purchased the set through a separate site from Crown, I called the company to explain my misfortune. The customer service rep on the other side of the phone was very warm and attentive. He listened, which is more than I could say about my bank, and student loan company. He interjected:
“Hold on. I think I might have some of those brushes here. May I have your number; I will call you back if I find them.”
I gave him the information and then waited. After several hours I called back. Another very helpful customer service rep answered and said that the first gentle man left instructions to get my address. I was poised and ready to give my debit card number, but he thanked me for the information and wished me a good day.
A few days later, the doorbell rang out, sending excitement through my body. This is the excitement a child might feel on their birthday when they knew that there would be presents outside their bedroom door. I raced to the door, eager. Screaming “who is it,” I turned the door knob and pulled it towards my body. The mail person dropped a package as he walked away. It was an envelope from Crown Brushes. Inside was a single angled blush brush. The set was complete again. The negative emotions that would past over me upon seeing the brush evaporated, and quickly turned into a warm feeling towards the company that was so kind to me.
I called them the day of the arrival of the brushes to extend my thanks.
Thank you Crown Brushes for going above and beyond for a new, but now loyal customer.
